Job Description

The Career Specialist position within ACT’s employment department, known as ACT Career Services, focuses on supporting individuals with barriers to employment with planning for, preparing for, obtaining, maintaining, and succeeding in their employment endeavors. Successful employees are able to work with a variety of individuals and their teams of supporters, while also being responsive to the business community and their recruitment and retention needs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate & complete person-centered Career Planning for individuals in services.
• Provide systematic training to individuals at their volunteer or employment sites.
• Facilitate the employment of individuals, by planning and implementing job search activities.
• Assist in routine data collection and maintenance of individual’s case records.
• Maintain communication and cooperation with families, other service providers, employers/businesses, and funders.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Prefer experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Missouri Class E Driver’s License (can be obtained post hire) and reliable transportation.
• Excellent time management and customer service skills.
• Skill in professional writing & ability to utilize a computer for documentation.
• Ability to teach individuals with disabilities individually or in groups.
• Ability to work a varied schedule.
• Skill in making decisions independently.
