Pike Market Child Care and Preschool (PMCCP) is searching for joyful, curious and creative teachers to join our warm and welcoming learning community. Who are we? Our mission is to provide access to high-quality early education to all families regardless of income. Our commitment to equity and social justice makes our work with children and families unique. Our teaching teams work collaboratively to weave together child-centered emergent curriculum with culturally relevant anti-bias education. Our location nestled inside Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market, PMCCP rests in the down under of the market. Hidden from the view of many market-goers, PMCCP comes to life every morning to the sun shining over Elliott Bay and the smell of fresh fruits, flowers, and eateries from the market above.
Who are we looking for?
Our diverse community is like family, and we are looking for teachers who regard children as highly competent learners and who are eager to create environments that are responsive and inclusive of all children. Our teachers work collaboratively in teaching teams of 3. Teams work together to plan safe and engaging learning environments that nurture the whole child, construct curriculum, partner with families, and care for the larger school community. Co-teachers share the work of a traditional lead teacher role. We value experience as well as education and want to work with people who are dedicated to growing their skills in applying anti-bias education goals and child-centered emergent curriculum. If you are someone who has joy, wonder and curiosity in working with children and families, this would be a great job for you.
Why should you apply?
At PMCCP, we believe that teachers must have a supportive and nurturing work environment in order to best teach and care for children. A place where you are respected and valued for being your authentic self and where you are valued for your experience and education. PMCCP teachers receive paid planning time, a teacher workspace and a teachers’ lounge with one of the best views of the Puget Sound.
Benefits This full-time position offers paid sick and vacation leave, a 3% employee matched retirement benefit, and 100% paid medical, vision and dental benefits. We offer competitive wages to teachers who meet the education and experience requirements.
