District Literacy Coach – Kingdom East Unified Union School District – Lyndonville, VT

Kingdom East School District is looking to hire a Literacy Coach to join our instructional team as we implement a balanced literacy approach within a workshop model district-wide. The candidate must be a dynamic, high quality literacy leader interested in joining a forward thinking organization. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with classroom teachers to strengthen their literacy program (including lesson studies, lab sites, instructional rounds and other embedded programs/resources), providing professional learning, collaborating, using formative and summative assessments to drive professional learning, and working with a district literacy steering committee to guide literacy instruction district-wide. Chosen individual will work closely with the Director of Innovation and Learning, the instructional coaching team, and the principals.Experience with PreK-8 literacy instruction within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), workshop model, Teachers College reading and writing units of study, proficiency based learning, and the PLC at Work collaborative approach is encouraged.

The district provides mentorship and a supportive administration.We are located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have choice and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools — Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy — or another high school of their choice.

We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St.
