TITLE: English as a Second LanguageTeacher – Elementary
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develops and implements an instructional
program that will effectively provide the best possible education
for each student who native language is not English.
QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Planning and Assessment:
Establishes and implements daily written lesson plans.
Evaluates student learning and revises instruction accordingly.
Structures teaching to encourage independent thinking by students.
Effectively prepares/uses instructional materials and technology resources.
Maintains appropriate expectations for all students.
Differentiates instruction.
Maintains appropriate student classroom behavior.
Demonstrates knowledge of the subject/grade.
Demonstrates resourcefulness and flexibility.
Displays enthusiasm for teaching.
Utilizes strategies to meet class objectives, student needs and abilities.
Effectively motivates students.
Manages Instructional time wisely.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains appropriate state licensure; assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
Responds to telephone, email and in-person requests, inquiries and questions in a professional, polite and responsive manner.
Attends all required meetings.
Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity and individual differences of others.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Instructional Supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
Stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch.
Regular contact with staff members and administrators is required.
Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Day Contract
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SALARY SCALE: Teacher Salary Scale
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in
accordance with school policy and administrative regulations on
evaluation of licensed personnel.
