SUMMARY:
The Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional and physical development of each child enrolled in a group in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Lead Teacher. This position will assist the supervisor to plan, design and implement a developmentally appropriate child care experience that meets the needs of the infants and toddlers enrolled. They will assist in assuring licensing requirements are met and the environment is maintained in a clear, safe and orderly manner, as well as encourage and promote parent involvement in the classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must demonstrate experience and interest in working with young children, parents and volunteers
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Documentation of completion of the Introduction to Child Care and Skills and Strategies courses that are required by Wisconsin Day Care License Requirement, and
• At least 1 year of successful experience with a primary care group of infants and toddlers.
• Demonstrate sensitivity toward all cultures.
• Experience working with low-income, multicultural families and people with disabilities is desirable.
• Knowledge of basic first aid.
• Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development including working with parents.
