Kindergarten Teacher – Rivendell Interstate School District – Fairlee, VT

Samuel Morey Elementary School (Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5), a school of 120 students located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley near Dartmouth College, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced kindergarten teacher for the 2020-21 school year. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in Fundations, Heggertys Phonemic Awareness, a standards-based mathematics program, and POA/PNOA. Candidates with experience with assessments such as Acadience (formerly DIBELS), Predictive Assessment of Reading (from Wake Forest University), and phonemic awareness such as P.A.S.T and teaching experience that emphasized foundational skills in early literacy, especially Structured Literacy, are highly desired. A strong understanding of the social-emotional needs of children in this developmental stage is a must, with additional training in working with students with disabilities, trauma-informed classroom practices, and diverse student engagement practices highly preferred. Our teachers use Responsive Classroom methods along with trauma informed practices to teach students about expected behaviors in order to support social and emotional growth in our children. We also seek teachers who are invested in forming strong relationships with students and families, knowing that these relationships are integral to a successful learning environment.
