Lower School Physical Education Teacher – Grades Preschool – Grade 4

Full Time Position: Contract year August 10, 2020 through June 10, 2021

Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. plus seasonal after school hours for Track and Eagles Skippers

Reports to: Lower and Upper Elementary Principals

• Able to educate preschool and elementary aged children and help them develop an awareness of the importance of a healthy life-style and help nurture this attitude in their students.
• Have a strong faith in Christ and be able to incorporate Christian principles into the lessons delivered each day
• Able to help students develop physically in fun, engaging and beneficial ways in areas such as flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination
• Able to assess and motivate students to achieve their best
• Able to help students learn about healthy interaction with their peers
• Able to encourage teamwork and group problem-solving, helping to develop an atmosphere in which competition and winning are not necessarily as important as effort/participation and other essential skills students will gain from physical education
• Coordinate/run after-school activities such as Track and Eagles’ Skippers.

Qualifications:

Strong Christian background

B.A. and/or M.A. in Physical Education

Understands the needs of children ages 2 to 12 and able to connect with them in meaningful and engaging ways.

Willingness to participate in fulfilling the mission of the school
