JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State School of Theatre is searching for a Master Acting Teacher to teach various levels of acting in both our BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre programs. We seek someone with significant teaching experience in a process-oriented methodology-a coherent, tested pedagogy. While Meisner and Stanislavski principles underpin much of the School`s work, we aim to equip our students with experience in and working knowledge of many methodologies-Michael Chekhov, Jacques Lecoq, Declan Donnellan, Hip Hop Theatre, Laban, and Viewpoints for example-and engage the students in the art of wrestling with both the connections and the apparent contradictions between various approaches.
An additional emphasis on acting with the camera is desirable, as is specific experience in Musical Theatre and Theatre for Social Change. Significant performance or directing experience is desired. This position will be involved in the production season-coaching, directing, creation of projects, mentoring, for example. Strategies for connecting out students to the profession are of interest.
Sought are applicants with these qualities:
A terminal degree is preferred. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with experience. Applicants should upload a cover letter, cv, teaching philosophy, and list of 3-5 references. Applications received by November 30, 2019 will receive priority consideration, but the search will continue until the position is filled.
CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here .
