Position Vacancy for 2020-2021 School Year 1.0 FTE Middle School Drama Teacher

Position Summary: The Drama teacher is responsible for
helping students learn the listening and speaking skills behind
public speaking through speech and drama. The teacher is
responsible for improving students’ listening and effective
communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Transports district materials to specific buildings.
- Arranges and sets up classrooms.
- Maintains inventory of instruments and equipment.
- Plans and directs performances.
- Coordinates schedules with building staff.
- Travels between buildings.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- ND Teaching License with Language Arts endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two to three years teaching experience, secondary education preferred
- Prior college-level theatrical experience preferred
- Endorsement in Theater or Drama preferred
