Part-time Upper Elementary Teacher for Non-traditional School – Beacon Academy, Inc. – Guilford, NC

We are looking for a lead teacher for our Discovery Studio (upper elementary classroom). Please visit our website at beaconacademync.org to learn more about our school. We are a new small K-8 school, opening in Fall 2020. Guides start work in mid-July/early August.

Our school’s mission is to guide each child to understand the world around them and discover the talents within them so that they can find a calling and change the world. We are a non-denominational Christian school–we recognize God’s hand in the world around us in the studio, but leave the teaching of doctrine to the parents to teach at home. We are looking for someone who loves children, and can bring fun, joy, and peace to the children.

Responsibilities for the lead teacher include, but are not limited to the following:

– Work with children, grades 3-5

– Prepare an inviting space for children to discover their world of learning

– Lead daily discussions to inspire, provide tools for success, and/or spark curiosity

– Set up individualized hands-on and online learning platforms for children to work through academic goals

– Guide children to become independent in their learning

– Work closely and collaborate with other guides in the school

Required Experience/Training:

– Must have experience working with children, either in a Montessori classroom, or as a coach or mentor.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 to $20.00 /hour
