Social/Emotional Teacher – RSU 16 – Poland, ME
RSU 16 seeks a passionate educator who believes in inclusion.
We are searching for a lead Special Education Teacher for our
Middle School Social Emotional Program. This new program, supported
by the Dean of Special Education, the Director of Special
Education, and the school principal, will cater to 7th & 8th
grade students accessing their education in the public-school
setting. Program will include Educational Technicians, a Social
Worker and an Occupational Therapist.
Preferred candidate should have experience with middle school teaching, innovative practices and high expatiations of students and themselves. Applicant should be able to communicate effectively and provide skills for students to succeed. The applicant should also be able to teach and apply strategies to deal with conflict, recognize strong emotions and provide tools for students to excel inside and outside of the classroom.Special Education 282 certification requiredProvide quality instruction to meet needs of all studentsExcellent interpersonal skillsStrong, positive classroom management skillsDemonstrate the ability to support the social-emotional needs of studentsContribute to a positive school culturePhysical ability to train and/or assist staff in physical management of students in crisisMaintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and familiesDevelop a positive classroom climateDemonstrate a variety of computer literacy skillsAttend IEPProven ability to work as part of a teamSupport Response to Intervention Student Service Teams
