JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Smeal Business Career Center is searching for its first Specialty Programs and International Career Coach to assist students one-on-one and in group settings with their career and professional development success planning.
The Coach will serve as the primary point of contact for approximately 100 one-year graduate students completing their Master of Accounting, Master’s in Corporate Finance, and Master’s of Business Analytics Programs with additional support provided to Master of Science in Real Estate Analysis and Development students as needed.
The ability to develop longitudinal relationships with students is critical. In addition, these unique populations will have an accelerated career search given the brevity of their programs (each one year). As such, advanced project management, client management, and communication skills are a must.
The Coach will meet with students in-person and virtually regarding goal setting, job search tactics, resume/cover letter writing, interview techniques, etc. The Coach is responsible for understanding each student’s unique goals and their academic program of choice. In addition to coaching, the Coach will work in collaboration with the Director of Employer Relations to create new international employment relationships (with a special emphasis on China) while also working with the Director of Professional Development and Programming to create new content for international students and domestic students (both undergraduate and graduate) desiring to work internationally.
During peak recruitment season, the Coach will also assist in working with undergraduate students on basic career search techniques while also working with the larger Business Career Center team to deliver recruitment activities and professional development programming to the entire Smeal student population.
The Coach will work with the Executive Director to solicit, organize, analyze, and present post-graduate outcomes for all one-year graduate students annually. As the first Specialty Programs and International Career Coach, the Coach will work with the Executive Director to benchmark and create policies to be implemented with this new population to best scale resource and program delivery.
Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A background working internationally and/or working with international students is preferred, though not required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
