Tasks
Teaches the fundamentals, rules and strategies of the sport.
Creates team practice agendas; organizes and runs effective team practices.

Obtains and organizes equipment needed for practice.
Arrives 10 minutes prior to class start time prepared with a positive attitude and appropriate attire; sets-up and greets participants.
Works assigned shifts, arranging coverage if unable to volunteer.
Returns all equipment to its appropriate place; keeping storage areas clean and organized for easy access.
Communicates clearly and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers, and families as needed.
Follows program rules, YMCA policies and the YMCA Code of Conduct.
Acts as a positive role model for players and parents while implementing YMCA healthy living policies, character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Performs other tasks deemed necessary by the Sports Director.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of basic rules, fundamentals and strategies of the sport required.
Knowledge of general growth and development and developmentally appropriate activities for children preferred.
Ability to work independently; seeking supervisory guidance as needed and using guidance provided constructively.
Must be able to engage and motivate youth, ages 5-14.
Requires the ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner with parents, children, members, supervisors and co-workers; maintain confidentiality and exchanging accurate information in all communications.
Ability and willingness to work with children with diverse abilities and needs
Basic first aid training preferred.
Must complete child abuse prevention training within 30 days.
Attitude:
Must be enthusiastic and passionate about working with children.
Must have patience with all children and their families.
