Imagine by Northpoint, offers a safe and therapeutic environment in which clients ages 12-17 can engage in extended outpatient treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. Day treatment programming includes group participation, schooling, individual sessions, case management, psychiatric care, nursing care, and family therapy. POSITION SUMMARY: To provide clients with a daily and ongoing instructional program that will provide for them the best possible academic knowledge and skills. Assist and prepare necessary planning for clients to return to their schooling environment once behavioral treatment is concluded. Help clients develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education according to the guidelines outlined in each student’s Individual Education Plan.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
· Develop, provide, and maintain client required schooling needs and curriculum
· Facilitate classroom studies daily
· Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
· Assist with behavioral crisis intervention
· Advocate for client needs when transitioning back to school
· Budget class time effectively
· Establish and communicate classroom rules, and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
· Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
· Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
· Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum, objectives, and methods
· Evaluate student progress on a regular basis, as indicated on IEP’s, and as often as general education students are evaluated and informed of their progress
· Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records in accordance with applicable federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy
· Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications
· Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Washington Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education
· Seek assistance should emergencies arise
· All other duties as requested and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:
· Current Washington Teacher Certification with Generalist K/12 endorsement
· Bachelor’s degree required and area of major study
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Able to handle confidential material in a reliable manner
· Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of organization
· Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management
· Strong background in behavior management, curriculum, and writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans
· Strong background in federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to special education
· Knowledge of the diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices
· The ability to work with students with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities
· Ability to instruct students one-on-one and small group situations
· Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods
· Strong background in curriculum and the Washington Standards
· Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction
· Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
· Works well with students, staff, and the public
· Excellent organizational skills
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Able to work under deadlines
· Maintain confidentiality of staff and clients
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
· Must maintain current nationally accredited CPR/First Aid/AED certification
· Attend annual training as directed by supervisor
· Maintain Washington State Teaching Certificate with Generalist K/12 endorsement in Special Education

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Completion of a tuberculin screening during first week of employment
· Completion of a pre-employment drug screening, post-accident and random for upon reasonable suspicion of use
· Completion of orientation and required paperwork prior to reporting to work
· Demonstrated computer literacy
· Completion of CPR/First Aid Training within first 90 days of employment
· Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training
· Completion of background check
