Oregon City High School is a comprehensive high school with approximately 2,000 students, located in the suburban Portland/Metro area. We are looking for high-energy and creative educators that will continue our collective focus on engaging all learners at high levels, while building students’ foundations for the 21st century. We are an AVID Certified school and are also working with the Center for High School Success with a focus on ninth grade success. Position Description: The person accepting this position will teach 4 periods per day, and plan and instruct a variety of Theatre courses (grades 9-12).
Possible courses include: Theatre 1-3, Honors Theatre 4, Play Production, Tech Theatre
Collaborate with department, building, district, and community stakeholders. Communicate effectively with students, staff members and parents. Provide leadership and vision for the theatre program. Provide supervision at all events, rehearsals and competitions. Work evenings and weekends, three weeks per production. Be responsible for a minimum of three productions per year. Maintain an updated inventory of equipment (costumes and supplies). Develop and manage program budget. Coordinate press releases & communication with news outlets.
Qualifications:
1.Valid Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in Theatre/Drama.
2.Enthusiasm for learning and implementing new strategies, including: AVID, WICOR, group work, culturally responsive teaching.
3.Knowledge of high leverage instructional strategies.
4.Ability to create a student-centered classroom.
5.Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each student and implement a variety of assessment strategies. 6.Ability to provide a safe, culturally responsive learning environment.
7.Knowledge of social and emotional needs of high school students.
8.Interest in becoming involved in the whole OCHS community
This is a probationary full time position for the 2020-21 school year. Start date is August 18, 2020.
